IFI Education Coordinator – Maternity Cover 

The IFI wishes to appoint an Education Coordinator to cover maternity leave within the Education team.

  • This is a Specified Purpose Contract (Maternity leave cover).  

  • The salary for this role is 32,000.

The Irish Film Institute is Ireland’s national cultural institution for film. The Education Coordinator is a key role in IFI Education, working with the Education Programmes Manager and Head of Education, supporting the department in the coordination of all education events, at IFI or partner venues. 

 

Purpose of Job 

The Education Coordinator will support the Education Programmes Manager in the delivery of the Schools Programme and other education/youth and family events. They will contribute to the programme development and delivery, liaising with distributors and agents to source appropriate and available film content, in a range of formats to comply with IFI and venue requirements. They will be the main contact for file sourcing, ingesting and delivery, working with partner venues and relevant personnel across IFI, ensuring films are ready for projection, in a prompt and efficient fashion. They will liaise with the Education Programmes Manager in maintaining accurate records and carrying out administrative duties regarding the schools database, programme and bookings. They will coordinate the smooth running of the IFI@Schools streaming platform, including file uploads and reporting, with the Education Programmes Manager and Head of Department, to compliment all IFI Schools events. They will work closely with the Education team to achieve agreed departmental goals and work closely with the Education Programmes Manager to identify areas for future development of the Schools Programme. 

 

The Coordinator will work with partner venues to ensure their smooth delivery of IFI Schools Programme, theatrical and online. They will also develop an understanding of the wider education and arts environment. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensuring the delivery of all files and formats to IFI Projection and partner venues in a timely and efficient fashion. 

  • Securing relevant file formats from agents and distributors, negotiating screening fees, in conjunction with the Education Programmes Manager 

  • Coordinate and process as required incoming programmes of short films for screening in IFI cinemas. 

  • Utilise the Media Shuttle system and other file transferring systems for incoming and outgoing elements for IFI Schools, Family and other Education events, liaising with cinemas department and Projection teams as appropriate. 

  • Liaise with IFI Projection to ensure timely provision of Education materials for testing and exhibition. 

  • Building excellent communication networks with IFI colleagues and partner venues.

  • Delivering IFI Schools events internal and external, with the Education Programmes Manager. 

  • Contributing to the development of new schools programme, from research, to finalising agreements, to promotion and delivery. 

  • Assist and support in the delivery of regular IFI Family programme including annual Family Festival. 

  • Maintaining schools streaming platform with HOD and Education Programmes Manager, ensuring relevant content complimentary to Schools programme. 

  • Problem-solving in context of programme delivery across IFI and venues 

Candidate competencies and skills 

  • Demonstrable practical experience and understanding of digital asset management is essential. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Interest in and experience of working with young people in arts / education environment 

  • Experience in planning, design and delivery of projects 

  • Attention to detail, solution focused, record-keeping and reporting 

  • Passion for film and interest in film education
